Job Summary

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of various personnel involved in the daily operations of the plant as directed by the Plant Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all employees, contractors, and visitors to the plant, including but not limited to, that all employees have the correct PPE, providing training for employees on assigned shift, follow-up in institutional tools and complying with all MSHA and company safety.
  • Confers with Managers, and other supervisory personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance 
  • Assist with building the budget, controlling costs and CAPEX
  • Develops, implements, and manages, in coordination with operations best practices, objectives, and new programs to achieve optimum productivity and efficiency 
  • Promote all the practices established for normal operations and Outages, including Preparation, Execution and Post-outages
  • Ensures compliance with FM Global standards and that all facilities for which he/she is responsible, follow federal/state regulations and requirements
  • Lead work teams through example and motivation, instruction, coaching, discipline, standard work, and otherwise oversee employee work performance and resolve employee grievances to levels provided for within the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Plan, coordinate and direct training for department with the training coordinator by defining and utilizing the training matrix 
  • Regular review of all maintenance KPI’s, follow up on required actions to meet KPI targets, follow up on all RCA’s and subsequent actions and ensuring appropriate communication
  • Adheres to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • 3 years experience in the cement making process or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education or experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work scheduled hours

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong networking, interpersonal and teamwork/collaboration skills
  • Ability to use a computer, MS Office Software, email and operation software
  • Result oriented, identifies issues and drives the decision process

  • Extreme temperatures

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
  • Frequent standing, sitting, squatting and walking
  • Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing to significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time 
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment 
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which includes, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning and/or pulling of controls
