Job Summary

SUPERVISOR MINE PLANNING

Job Responsibilities

  • Promotes a safe workplace environment 
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Cemex mine properties and operations
  • Develop an understanding of aggregate and cement quality control and products
  • Assist mining operations in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permits
  • Assist Director of Aggregate Resources with long and short-range planning of aggregate mining operations in Central Florida, including annual updates to 5-Year Mine Plans with an emphasis on Softrock resources used as cement feed
  • Work closely with operations personnel and environmental department to ensure the use of BMP’s for mine development and reclamation
  • Supervise the day-to-day drilling activities of a 2-person drilling crew as well as management of the drill and chemistry data derived from drilling
  • Occasional coordination of field-technician activities on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform periodic Inventory Surveys using UAV/Drone and/or coordinate outside contractors to perform this work.
  • Assist Director of Aggregate Resources with assembling Annual Reserves and Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) data for Cemex mine properties.
  • Qualitative and Quantitative analysis of aggregate and cement deposits at existing mines and prospect sites
  • Maintain geological database of drilling data
  • Periodic updates of pit edge surveys and base maps using GPS, UAV, or conventional surveying techniques.
  • Quarterly bathymetric surveys of all area quarries 
  • Perform other tasks as directed to fulfill mine planning requirements
     

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree with a Geology or Mining Engineering major preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Certified sUAS Pilots license
  • Construction aggregates and cement manufacturing experience preferred but not required
  • Surveying experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent computer skills
    Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access-a plus)
    AutoCAD experience a plus with desire and ability to learn more detailed mining software (Surpac)
    GIS software experience a plus (ArcGIS) 
  • Good interpersonal skills required
  • Good oral and written communication skills required
  • A self-motivated team player willing to do what is necessary to get the job done!

Working Conditions

  • Capability to work extended hours, including some weekends as necessary
  • Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
  • At times, requires working in hot, dusty, or wet conditions with exposure to loud noise with occasional physical labor at times.
     

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing and pulling to a significant degree
  • Ability to conduct daily local travel with occasional overnight out-of-town stays possible 
  • Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors.
