Job Summary
A process attendant’s job is to ensure efficient operation and production at a Cement Plant, working rotating shifts to maintain production. This would include identifying and reporting any mechanical issues, material leakage or oil leaks properly. Process Attendants operate heavy equipment such as front-end loaders and bobcats to move materials and perform cleanup work in the event of a spill and perform minor mechanical repairs.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all posted and required MSHA and company safety policies and a commitment to providing a safe environment for themselves, co-workers and visitors to the facility
- This includes reporting any potential hazards to management immediately and, when possible, correcting or isolating the risk
- Ensure compliance with all posted and required environmental policies, immediately reporting any issues and providing support to resolve the issue
- Keep all work areas safe, clean and orderly
- Responds to reasonable callouts as needed and work extended hours
- Operate wheel bucket loader, dump truck, supersucker, water truck, bobcats, forktruck/forklifts and street sweeper
- Participate in plant overhaul outages as needed
- Lubricate & oil equipment as needed
- Utilize power shots (highly compressed air canisters)
- Attends and participates in department and team meetings and training classes
- Troubleshoot and report any equipment or safety issues to Plant Management
- Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
- Ensure kilns and all mills are producing at their maximized tonnage. When not producing at their maximized tonnage it is the Production Assistant’s job to work with his Lead man and or Shift supervisor to figure out and resolve any issues preventing optimum efficiency on all kilns, mills and equipment
Qualifications
- MSHA Certification required (or must obtain within reasonable period)
- Must be able to obtain Federal Permit to handle explosives (Power Shot Compressed air systems)
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Must possess a current and valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must successfully meet and maintain background requirements to comply with US Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives licensing requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to physically perform all essential job functions
- Be able to work all hours and shifts including overtime, weekends and holidays with the possibility of shift’s changing
Working Conditions
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise and working outdoors
- Must wear all necessary protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, climbing to a significant degree, and/or pulling of controls
- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing to a significant degree
- Heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning and /or pulling of controls
