Job Summary

Support the Alternative Fuels Team with overseeing the procurement and contract compliance activities regarding established AF suppliers and vendors, coordinating standard processes, weekly scheduling and established accounting applications supported within the involved teams at each cement plant, and the oversight of established KPI dashboards, production and inventory databases, and related reporting to help identify performance, budgetary and modeling trends. This position will also support the contract management activities associated with current and future AF supply agreements and partnerships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform, review, and maintain the coding, classification, and standardization implementation processes in ERP and SAP systems (regarding alternative fuel suppliers)
  • Perform spend analysis and build reports, dashboards or KPIs from raw data to support management in proactive identification of supply or budgetary challenges, cost savings opportunities and elimination of "root cause" infractions
  • Develop and implement new databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Support the development and implementation of a Materials Management Policy to standardize plant procedures, responsibilities and coordination of all Raw Materials, AFs, and Primary Fuels
  • Perform quantitative analysis to support functional decision making and developing effective material stream strategies in collaboration with AF team and Plant operations i.e. quality control analysis, inventory and consumption analysis, AF MMBtu cost modelling, and AF Sourcing strategy advancement
  • Support AF Team with RFP analysis, comparative bid analysis, and maintaining the Master AF Matrix by Plant
  • Monitor AF inventories, consumptions, and support Plant communications with AF supply shipments
  • Ensure data integrity in sourcing tools, as well as SAP, Grafoper & Power BI systems
  • Ensure effective communication between plant, vendors and AF team to proactivity influence smooth operations, deliveries, inventory, and quality at each plant
  • Analyze industry trends and market competitions to develop related AF market intelligence
  • Leverage market research in sourcing decisions and risk management; disseminate market intelligence
  • Support Negotiations team in sound contract management to ensure contract compliance
  • Focus on process improvement and efficiency gains through standardization and automation
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Qualifications

  • Product and materials knowledge
  • Knowledge of the cement/concrete production process
  • Is able to apply supply chain management concepts
  • Understands external customer requirements and their impact on internal customers and suppliers
  • Deep knowledge of JDE functional processes and systems (maintenance, inventories and purchasing modules)
  • Preferably experience in raw materials, primary fuels and/or alternative fuel sources related to operating in cement plants
  • Experience with SAP operating systems and preference towards familiarity of Cemex's current application
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, lookup functions, IF functions, etc.), PowerPoint, SharePoint and Power BI, and Think-cell software is beneficial
  • Experience with building queries in any platform a big plus such as Power BI, Power Query, MS Access, SQL server or any other.
  • Experience with ERP system (SAP) a big plus.
  • Ability to independently identify, build, plan and present recommendations

  • Independent thinker with entrepreneurial mentality, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications besides those already indicated
     

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Environmental or technical operational knowledge of cement, solid waste, or alternative fuels industries
  • Preferably at least 1-3 years of experience in the waste industry, operations, logistics or procurement/sourcing responsibilities.
     

Working Conditions

  • Microsoft office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Preferred knowledge of SAP
  • Go getter attitude
  • Be able to perform without constant guidance and adapt to dynamic environment
     

Physical Requirements

•    Travel to vendor sites, need to be able to walk and possibly climb stairs or equipment to learn how materials are generated
