Job Summary

The department of Commercial Strategy supports commercial management of the cement division at CEMEX by proposing strategies aimed to optimize cement delivery, sales revenue, and overall profit, monitor market dynamics, competitor activities, trends, and customer portfolio optimization. It is also responsible for driving process-oriented frameworks for multiple business cases, along with the creation of commercial presentations for executive management, supporting overall strategy, sales management process and various ad-hoc projects. This Commercial Strategy Manager leads the supply-chain optimization for cement customers, among other processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design processes and protocols to ensure the accuracy and quality of delivery freight services to customers
  • Oversee the quality and accuracy of customers’ invoicing process and ensure positive customer experiences
  • Coordinate communication between Logistics, Cement Commercial, and Sales Administration to address supply chain cost discrepancies and make necessary improvements
  • Communicate best practices across regional divisions and lead process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and report monthly profitability trends in the cement supply chain
  • Produce commercial analysis related to supply route optimization and other related commercial initiatives
  • Assist in strategies aimed to optimize revenue of CEMEX USA cement business unit
  • Liaison support with cement Logistics teams to coordinate efforts in optimizing profitability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics 
  • Master of Business Administration (preferred)
  • 6+ years with experience in strategy consulting or strategic planning, commercial/sales planning

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer Literacy: Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • SAP (ERP) Skills and BI strongly preferred
  • Experience with PowerBI or Tableau is a plus
  • Second language is a plus
  • Excellent oral & written communication
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus, developing cooperative relationships
  • Ability to work independently and as a team 
  • Ability to manage, develop and motivate people (team of 3+)
  • Ability to recognize issues, present solutions, and implement action plans
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Analytical approach to problem solving; not intimidated about tackling new problems    
  • Ability to work at an appropriate level of detail
  • Deep interest in how business process work and how to interact with top executives
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, drive change and deliver results

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Capable to work extended hours as needed.  This role may include support of an aggressive schedule before the monthly presentations to CEO, among other specific ad-hoc requests
  • Capable of working in an open concept office environment

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors
