Job Summary

The overall objective of this position is to ensure safe and reliable operation of production facilities at the lowest life cycle cost and develop cost effective projects that will increase the plants productivity. The position will be responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of innovative solutions to electrical, instrumentation, automation, networking reliability issues and projects for multiple facilities.  This person will be expected to work independently and make technical decisions and recommendations based on collection and analysis of data and information and analysis of cost, risk and benefits.

Job Responsibilities

  • Understand, demonstrate, and promote the Company safety culture through personal engagement and implementation of local and regional health and safety objectives, championing local and regional safety initiatives and working safely at all times. Strict compliance and commitment to the company’s health and safety rules including a commitment to Zero4Life. 
  • Ensuring all necessary health and safety regulations are complied with by subcontractors and other external services on sites.
  • Assessing the application and functionality of processes and equipment.
  • Capital expansion (designing, installing and commissioning new production units and trouble-shooting existing lines).
  • Utilize defined Cemex Engineering Procedures and Standards in the execution of major renovation, process improvement and capital expenditure projects.
  • Managing projects within budget and time constraints. Development of concepts, process models, process analysis, Work Breakdown Structures, bid documents, and complete bid packages for all projects assigned.
  • Improving efficiency across the entire operation (optimum levels and outputs).
  • Provide engineering leadership and assistance to operations and maintenance including; troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical. 
  • Collaborating with operating personnel, plant management and senior management to plan projects prior to execution.
  • Reporting Requirements including:
  • Weekly Engineering Report to Manager
  • Monthly ppt presentation to Executive Committee
  • Paper and electronic documentation of all relevant project data
  • 50% Nationwide travel to support the needs of the business
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, or Electronic, or Computer, or Networking Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of experience in areas of engineering, maintenance, reliability, automation, networking, Cyber Security in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in maintenance and engineering of electrical, instrumentation, automation, networking equipment such as low/medium/high voltage switchgear, transformers, motors, distribution systems, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, Process Control Network, Cybersecurity, and CEMS/DAHS systems
  • Proven knowledge of Preventive and Predictive maintenance methodologies and technologies
  • Proven experience in execution of Reliability methodologies such as RCA, RCI, FMEA, Statistical downtime analysis, Fishbone analysis etc
  • Proven experience in engineering, specification and design of electrical/instrumentation/automation/networking systems, assets and projects

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven understanding of electrical, instrumentation, automation, networking, cybersecurity regulatory and industrial standards and codes
  • Proven understanding of control and instrumentation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in CMMS systems
  • Proven knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and techniques
  • Proven knowledge of reliability methodologies and strategies such as RCM, TPM, Spare Parts Management, Planning & Scheduling and CMMS optimization
  • Proven skills with software such as SAP, AutoCAD, Power Point, Visio, Excel, Word, Rockwell PLCs, Modicon PLCs, Allen Bradley PLC, HMIs, Networking, PIMs, Cybersecurity
  • Excellent communication, team interaction and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on cross functional teams.
  • Proven experience as a self-starter who effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Working Conditions

  • Capability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Ability to participate in required overnight travel as necessary.  Up to 50% Domestic travel and on occasion International
  • Some exposure to dust, noise and extreme temperature
     

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors.
