Job Summary

The Electrical Manager is responsible for utilizing defined CEMEX engineering procedures and practices in the execution of a wide range of electrical and automation projects. This is accomplished by performance of administrative duties and maintaining the control and organization of all work defined in the detailed breakdown structure for the project; performing work on time, at the highest practical standard of quality, at the lowest possible cost, adhering to Corporate MSHA Safety Standards and in a manner, which will enhance our company’s performance. The Project Manager is responsible for the electrical design, cost estimating, preparing bid documents and packages, reviewing contracts, scheduling equipment deliveries and expediting, procurement, and other duties required for projects and operations. He/She will manage, plan, design (including schematics), and coordinate electrical power distribution design in an industrial environment.  He/She will manage field electrical construction projects involving various aggregate plant improvements, new plant installations, process improvement projects, automation and other electrical projects involving mineral resource handling and processing.

Job Responsibilities
  • Solid project management skills with ability to set priorities and complete multiple tasks in accordance with deadlines.
  • Liaising with operating personnel, plant management and senior management to plan electrical requirements prior to execution
  • Management responsibility for the coordination of internal automation and electrical support sources. 
  • Coordination of electrical design and requirements with automation engineering 
  • Managing electrical requirements for significant projects to budget and timescale
  • Completing projects to the satisfaction of the customer and within the defined work scope and breakdown structure
  • Ensuring all necessary health and safety regulations are complied with, by subcontractors and other external services on site
  • Communicating all relevant feedback to appropriate levels of responsibility form onsite problems
  • Offering alternatives and back up services to the customer
  • Interacting with customers to resolve technical queries and problems
  • Development of project description that identifies the task and objective
  • Ensures compliance to preliminary and detailed engineering design procedures and deliverables
  • Compliance to Specifications to Contractors and deliverables
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear all necessary proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
     
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Master’s preferred. 
  • 6 years of related field experience in automation/electrical engineering in a construction material related field; post graduate emphasis on computer programming code, HMI design and development, power distribution and electrical control in material processing, construction aggregates manufacturing experience preferred. 
     
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of primary power distribution, electrical controls and switchgear, control automation, material process flow and sound practices in electrical engineering works
  • Strong working understanding of process equipment application and maintenance procedures
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel and PowerPoint. AutoCAD, GIS and AggFlow software skills are needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to analyze information and drive initiatives
  • Bi-lingual (a plus)
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects successfully
  • Strong technical systems aptitude
  • Superior interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate and communicate with different internal and external audiences
  • Understanding of multiple linear equation solver models
     
Working Conditions
  • Capable to work extended hours as needed
  • Capable of working in an open concept office environment
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location 
     
Physical Requirements
  • Required walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and climbing to a significant degree
  • Heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safety around heavy rolling equipment
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning and/or pulling of controls
  • Must pass DOT physical to include back x-ray, hearing test and drug/alcohol screening.
