Job Description

Manages the Item Master Catalog related to its structure definition (families, lines, categories, attributes, and naming convention) and supervises the codification operation based on defined policies, procedures, and best practices. Supports the maintenance, negotiations and purchases strategic and operative activities. Also monitors and analyzes the creation, deduplication, and enrichment of the Catalog. Responsible for the implementation of new technologies focused on the evolution and continuous improvement of the Item Master Catalog management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible of the codification governance (data strategy, policies, controls, and programs) and proper standardization of goods in CEMEX worldwide to enhance the visibility of spend analysis, foster the strategic sourcing methodology and support the global, regional & local negotiations, by ensuring the data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable
  • Establishes and recommends global policies and models for the Item Master Catalog management to ensure the quality of the data classification structure and descriptions to support the data analytics and consolidation (spend) for the negotiations, purchases, inventories, maintenance, and suppliers’ processes
  • Ensures material master data integrity in key systems as well as maintaining the processes to support the data quality
  • Manage data cleaning/deduplication campaign to rid the system of old, unused data, or duplicate data for better management and more efficient processes
  • Defines, consolidates and monitors KPIs based on a global, regional, and local perspective of items created, SLA's, categories usage, etc. to help country operations to identify opportunities
  • Responsible to coordinate the item coding activities (items creation, extension, and modification) with the GSO-Data Master team to ensure the SLA's and item codification according to normative and procedures
  • Coordinates and supervises the operation and evolution of the Item Master Catalog, and translate business requirements into feasible governance processes, in collaboration with Procurement and Operations areas (regional and countries) thru the Item Coding Committee and subject matter experts
  • Propose and lead initiatives and strategies to improve the visibility of CEMEX total spend
  • Key point of contact to resolve technical issues and operational incidents and queries with the item master catalog in coordination with GSO Master Data, P&IT, and end users (act as the primary level of escalation)
  • Develops and delivers training to key users, as well as development and documentation of processes

Position Challenges

1.  Improve the quality of the item codes description and classification

2.   Material Master Catalog administration & maintenance to create one catalog in multiple languages connected to all SAP mandates

3.   Construction of equivalent tables such as units of measure, volumes, exchange rates, others to ensure the data standards and definition of naming conventions

4.   Identification of duplicated item codes and homologation into a unique "golden record" code

5.   Facilitate massive changes in item description structures and categories management and massive item codes creation

Qualifications

Fluent in English & Spanish

Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Mater desirable.

+10 years of experience in maintenance materials (i.e., mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, other)

Desirable +3 years in operative position (cement plant) and +3 years in purchasing/supply planning position, materials codification.

PC programs such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Technical skills:

  • Systems adoption and usage
  • Spare parts and materials related with cement, ready-mix, and aggregates businesses. Data quality in material master data field.
  • Cement and ready-mix maintenance and production processes, procurement processes, reporting skills.
  • PM capabilities: designing, managing, and executing large-scale, enterprise-wide projects.
