(CEN) ELECTRICAL PROJECT ‎ENGINEER

Job Description

Coordinate, review and ensure compliance with CEMEX electrical engineering guidelines, design criteria, specifications and standards during the development and execution of the basic and detailed electrical engineering required for worldwide studies and projects, also considering the principles of Health, safety, quality, cost, and time; applying the methodologies, process and procedures of the electrical engineering department.

Main Responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervises and manages the development and deliver for construction the basic and detailed electrical engineering.
• Active participation in projects and studies through the preliminary execution of proposals for equipment calculations, main and distribution substations, and single line diagrams,
• Review / Create calculations for electrical and automation equipment’s and materials,
• Support the projects construction team during project execution, startup and commissioning stages, providing immediate and effective solutions to ensure cost, quality, and execution time. 
• Participate in the evaluation of global Electrical & Automation installation technologies and equipment’s suppliers to keep up to date the CEMEX standards. Ensuring the most competitive cost and quality. (Like: Grounding, lightning, lighting, wirings, motors, transformers, switchgears, MCC, field devices, etc.)
• Verify the compliance of local, internationals and CEMEX codes, standards and design criteria and specifications with the designers and engineering firms, through monitoring and assistance,
• Participate with local and international engineering research institutions to keep updated with new technologies and installation procedures and/or materials to apply this knowledge to CEMEX worldwide projects.
• Elaborate / Review preliminary and final lists of electrical and instrumentation equipment’s and materials, for the buildup of investment budgets in the draft stages as well as the project,
• Review / Create BOM and BOQ for the bidding process and hiring for construction,
• Request / Field survey any necessary information of the group plants or its subsidiaries, to give continuity to the projects,
• Assist training and development courses, to keep the performance of his function updated.

Position Challenges

Decision Making

• Manage electrical engineering guidelines, design criteria, specifications, and standards for installation of the project of his responsibility, in coordination with the team.
• Comment, approve or reject Electrical engineering drawings and documents that do not comply with local mandatory codes and/or CEMEX design criteria and standards.
• Create, review, follow up, tender bidding process for electrical engineering, equipment, and materials, as well as compare and approve technical comparative analysis.
• Challenges of the position
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary, multifunctional, and multicultural engineers and engineering companies during the development of the project.
•  Assure compliance of all projects with CEMEX electrical engineering design criteria, specifications, and standards.
•  Participate during all stages of the project from engineering, purchases up to start up. Sharing the conceptual design criteria of the project as well as the equipment’s involved to all needed.

Qualifications

• Spanish Native desirable, English 90%
• Bachelor (degree): Preferably Electrical Power System master’s degree and/or sufficient proven experience
• Area of Study: Electrical and Automation engineering, Administration, Sciences, Electrical equipment’s selections and electrical engineering revision. Cement and Concrete Production knowledge preferably.
• Knowledge of PC Programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, AutoCad general knowledge, Power System Analysis software like Easy Power preferably
• Experience 1 year (Preferably) Cement and/or mining related projects/equipment’s experience.
• Experience 3 years Electrical Engineer related projects (Engineering firms, equipment selection-specifications, power system analysis)
• General knowledge of cement, ready-mix and aggregate industry related equipment’s and installations.
• General knowledge of engineering and projects process development.
• Good knowledge on power system analysis, (power flow, SC, coordination, arc flash)
• Good knowledge on medium and low voltage installations and the related standards, on wiring practices and code requirements,
• Good knowledge on electrical equipment’s selection, like, high and medium voltage switchgears, relays, breakers, current and voltage instrumentation, power transformers, LV distribution panels and breakers, MCCs, lightning panel and transformers, etc.
• Willing to travel and relocation

INTERNAL:

• Regional and Country Technical and Operational responsible (Operations and Technical VPs, Plant Directors and Managers)
• Electrical Eng. Advisor / Project Manager / Project Director
• Procurement global and country negotiators/CAPEX managers
• Country / Global / local Environmental Heath Safety (EHS) responsible.
   

EXTERNAL:

• Vendors of electrical related concepts, like engineering, construction, equipment’s, and materials and their technical responsible
• Electrical Engineers Verifying units / Inspectors
• Electrical related Standard / educational and research Institutions
