Careers of Interest: Computer Science, Computer Technologies, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Technologies, or related engineering programs with a strong programming and data analytics component.
Schedule Availability: Between 25 and 30 hours per week
Period of Stay at CEMEX: 6 months, with the option of renewal

Project Objective
Support the development and continuous improvement of digital solutions for Global Quality, combining data extraction, transformation, validation, analytics and visualization to facilitate performance monitoring and decision-making across CEMEX operations
Challenges for the Students
- Work with real industrial data coming from multiple sources and understand how data flows from source systems to analytics and visualization tools.
- Learn the business logic behind Global Quality KPIs and translate it into data transformations, calculations and digital solutions.
- Analyze and troubleshoot data inconsistencies, calculation issues and integration problems using a structured problem-solving approach.
- Develop solutions in an environment where requirements evolve as new plants, data sources and business needs are incorporated.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical users, including the use of information and documentation in English
Main Responsibilities and Activities to Be Carried Out
- Support the development and maintenance of data analytics solutions and dashboards for Global Quality.
- Work with structured data from databases, files and industrial data sources, supporting data extraction, transformation, validation and consolidation processes.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts or similar tools for data processing, automation and validation.
- Support the development of Power BI reports, including data models, calculations, visualizations and user interaction.
- Validate dashboard results against source information and investigate discrepancies in data or calculations.
- Support the development and documentation of Quality KPIs, calculation logic, data sources and validation processes.
- Analyze plant and regional information to identify data quality issues, trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Document technical solutions, decisions, validations and relevant project learnings to support project continuity
Specific Requirements / Qualifications
Required:
- Basic programming knowledge and genuine interest in software development or data analytics
- Basic knowledge of Python or another general-purpose programming language.
- Basic understanding of databases, tables, relationships and SQL queries.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new tools independently and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Organized and structured way of working, with good follow-up and documentation habits.
- Intermediate–advanced English for technical information
Desirable, but not required
- Previous exposure to Power BI, Tableau or another data visualization tool.
- Familiarity with pandas or other data manipulation libraries.
- Knowledge of data modeling, ETL concepts or APIs.
- Previous academic or personal programming/data projects.
