Job Summary

Build positive relationships and actively interact with customers, dispatch and group of drivers/contractors while managing specific business needs and responsibilities. This includes actively being involved in safety on a daily basis, make certain all drivers/contractors are running under the requirements set by FMCSA, maximize fleet productivity and profitability while monitoring operating revenue and cost.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage employees and fleet of trucks. 
  • Ability to coordinate truck dispatch, deliveries schedules, and equipment maintenance.
  • Manage all aspects of DOT compliance including, but not limited to HOS, CSA, Driver Licenses, Driver Physicals, Registrations, PM’s and Annual inspections records.
  • Operate terminals in compliance with all state & federal safety and environmental standards (DOT).
  • Adhere to all CEMEX and OSHA rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
  • Mentor and motivate to create a safe and positive workplace. Ensure the safety & wellbeing of all employees, guests and visitors to the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all posted safety rules, regulations and requirements.  
  • Actively promote Cemex Safety culture to the department and perform all work in compliance to safety rules and company policies.
  • Foster teamwork, open communication and cooperation across functional boundaries. 
  • Act as a liaison between Fleet, Customers, and Operations.
  • Collaborate with accounting to resolve fleet and customer issues and promote synergy amongst all groups.
  • Establish strong lines of communication with customers in order to resolve concerns and other issues in a timely, effective manner.
  • Responsible for process improvements, and staffing of plant to ensure operational efficiency, 
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information regarding policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion and employee benefits
  • Conduct new hire orientation and safety training. Coach drivers on Omnitracs and/or Drive Cam critical events. 
  • Weekly and quarterly safety meetings. Conduct investigations of injuries/accidents. 
  • All other work assigned by Management.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or the ability to go back to school to complete preferred
  • Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred
  • 5 years minimum in the trucking industry, preferably in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of the trucking industry – cement and building materials is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • High level of computer literacy in a windows environment; SAP and Loadmaster system knowledge preferred.
  • Must be self-driven and results oriented with the ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Work with load planners and customer service to insure on time deliveries to customers while maintain a positive team oriented attitude.
  • Must be able to plan future workload for drivers/contractors
  • Negotiate different situations to meet the expectations of customers.
  • Ability to manage up to 30 drivers/contractors
  • Recruiting skills and retention skills are a must.
  • Must be  dependable and take ownership of work process

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
