Job Description
Supports the design, evaluation, and implementation of digital and industrial solutions based on IoT, edge computing, and cloud architectures. This role contributes to the Smart Operations initiative by validating connectivity, messaging, and cloud integration patterns across industrial environments. The position is responsible for supporting scalable and secure digital architectures deployed across multiple plants and geographies, ensuring long-term reliability and standardization.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the design and validation of digital solution architectures involving IoT, edge computing, and cloud platforms.
- Evaluate and compare IoT, messaging, and cloud services (e.g., MQTT brokers, Kafka, Azure IoT Services, LoRaWAN) and document technical recommendations.
- Collaborate in defining cloud-based integration patterns for data ingestion, messaging, and device connectivity.
- Perform end-to-end connectivity and interoperability testing between edge devices, on-premise components, and cloud services.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python) to improve efficiency in device, signal, and data management processes.
- Support the operation and continuous improvement of existing legacy solutions interfacing with industrial equipment.
- Produce technical documentation aligned with architectural standards and best practices.
- Follow up Move to support execution for new components.
- Support during proof of concepts for new components and platforms.
- Evaluate and authorize new components; prioritizing reusability
Position Challenges
- Understanding complex industrial environments and translating operational needs into scalable digital and cloud-based architectures.
- Balancing legacy systems constraints with modern cloud-native and event-driven architecture principles.
- Developing architectural thinking while still being hands-on with technical implementation and validation.
- Managing multiple technologies simultaneously (IoT, edge, cloud, messaging, containers).
- Collaborating with global, cross-functional teams and influencing technical decisions through analysis and documentation.
Qualifications
Languages
- English: Intermediate (technical discussions, documentation, collaboration with global teams).
- Spanish: Advanced or native.
Academic Background
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Systems Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields.
Areas of Expertise / Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in digital solutions, IoT, cloud, or integration-related roles.
- Exposure to solution architecture concepts, system design, or technical evaluation activities.
Technical Skills
- Programming / Scripting: Python.
- Operating Systems: Linux fundamentals (commands, bash scripting, file systems).
- Cloud Platforms: Basic to intermediate knowledge of public cloud services (preferably Azure).
- IoT & Messaging: MQTT, Kafka, Modbus, OPC; understanding of event-driven architectures.
- Containerization: Docker fundamentals; basic Kubernetes concepts (desired).
- Networking: IP addressing, ports, protocols, firewalls.
- Data Handling: CSV, Pandas or similar frameworks (desired).
- Industrial connectivity platforms, such as Kepserver.
