Job Summary

The Director of Maintenance oversees the planning, development, execution, and management for all Commercial Fleet Equipment and Plant Maintenance across the Florida Region. The Director of Maintenance is also responsible for maintaining a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient fleet to support the growing needs of the CEMEX business. This position reports directly the VP Operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and cost control for mobile equipment and plant equipment across all operations.
  • Conduct and/or attend the mechanic/safety meeting to maintain favorable working relationships among employees.
  • Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed, and mechanics are properly trained. 
  • Negotiate with Mobile Equipment Vendors on details for parts, service, secure rebates, credits, loaner equipment, to meet replacement criteria
  • Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventative maintenance programs
  • Responsible for the prioritization and allocation of maintenance resources to achieve long term goals and respond to short term emergencies.
  • Promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency across the region.
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times.
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7 years’ experience in Fleet Maintenance
  • 5 years in a senior management position preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity of industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of SAP Maintenance Module.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to relate to all levels within the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to drive initiatives.  
  • Ability to travel overnight, potentially 50% of time.

Working Conditions

  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location 

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.   Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment  
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
